Family and Friends paint the canvas of my life,

Each one a tentative mark, a confident stroke, a vibrant color ,

Each one important to the whole. Here’s to them!

We begin life whole, the sum of many people: parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters.  Each member contributes to who we are.  I thank my maternal grandfather, Joseph M. Corasaniti, who at seventeen, had the courage and strength of character to come to America and begin a journey into the unknown, armed only with his dreams and his faith.  My parents, Frank and Rita Ayd, who first gave me life, then taught me to dream, to work hard, and to love.  They taught me to have faith in God and to believe in myself.  Eleven brothers and sisters multiplied the joys of my childhood.  Having so many siblings also multiplied the chores, teaching me to do my part and to share.  I might add that it has forever made me cherish quiet moments alone.

In those precious moments, alone with recollections and visions, I have spent countless hours over the years writing and painting.  My husband, Mike, has always seen to it that I have a special place in which to work and to dream, entering my world from time to time to encourage and to sustain.

My daughters, Bridget, Bernadette and Rachel continue to bless and enrich my life filling my days with laughter and tears, adventure and wonder.  They are life’s greatest gifts.  Dear, sweet Michael and Natalie, my first grandchildren, twins mirroring the miracle… A third, Megan Elizabeth, and now a fourth, Lorelei Anne, each one adding light and love to my days.  There are no words…
