Could it be the ancient Siren’s song that eternally lures travellers to Sorrento or simply the sheer beauty of sea and sky that enchants us still?  The views from the terrace of Hotel Tramontano so inspired poet and musician, Gianbattista De Curtis, that he wrote the words to the song “Torna a Surriento.”  His brother Ernesto put the words to music and the beautiful ballad was sung for the first time in 1902 on this lovely balcony overlooking the bay.  Anyone fortunate enough to enjoy a stay here, caressed by the perfumed air and golden sunshine, will share his feelings and want to return.  The Hotel Tramontano gives one every reason to want to come back.  It is an old-world hotel of refined elegance, where many talented writers, artists, persons of nobility and even royalty have been welcomed.  We too were treated royally!

One of the best reasons to stay at Hotel Tramontano is its famed cuisine, created and perfected by family member, Don Alfonso, celebrated owner and chef of Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi.  These cherished family recipes are presented each evening in a dining room where immense bay windows frame a glittering sea and Vesuvius, veiled in the misty distance.
